Submit a Presentation Idea or Paper

Submit a Paper

Session Format

A session consists of at least one author from 3-4 proposals, a session chair, and audience members. Often times, the session chair will be one of the presenting authors. Each presenting author will have 12-15 minutes for their presentation, depending on the number of presentations within the session. The remaining time will be used for discussion.

In your submission, please name all authors who have contributed to this proposal in the corresponding order. Co-authors will be notified and have a few days to confirm their involvement.

No additional authors can be added after the submission process is completed.

Submission Process

We invite you to submit a proposal for the 2017 smiknowledge Annual Conference to be held in both London and Melbourne. The submission process has the following 4 steps:

  • Step 1: Use the form at the bottom of this page submit a Proposal – providing information on the title, an abstract, your preferred forum, as well as any names of co-authors, if applicable. We will be accepting submissions up until August 31st, 2017.
  • Step 2:  If you are not the single author of the proposal, your co-authors will be contacted by email. They will be asked to register and provide their contact information, as well as confirm their involvement with the submitted proposal by August 31, 2017.
  • Step 3: smiknowledge will verify the completion of your submission once all necessary information on all authors is submitted and will forward the submission on to blind peer review.
  • Step 4: Once the peer review is completed, you will be informed about the decision regarding your submission. We expect this to be in mid-September 2017.

Submission Guidelines

As our inaugural annual conference smiknowledge is setting the hallmark for our ongoing, annual International Conference series which we expect will be at the cutting edge of research. We are therefore inviting proposals rather than finished, complete papers for the 1st Annual Conferences to be held in London and Melbourne in 2017.

Originality

For academic proposals, only original, unpublished work is sought. Any proposal submitted to present, must not be identical or substantially similar to work already published, under review for another conference or publication will not be considered or might be subject to exclusion at any time before the conference.

Non academic proposals need not follow these guidelines however we encourage the inclusion of contemporary, relevant material that is representative of advanced practices in the field of business strategy.

Submission File Format

Files are easiest to handle if submitted in PDF format. MS Word (or equivalent) will also be accepted. The title should be listed in the header of each page. Please use single spacing and 11-point, Arial font or larger.

Revisions

All proposals received by the deadline date are deemed as original and final. Therefore, the following will not be accepted after the deadline of July 31st, 2017 has expired. We regret we are unable to allow any rewrites of submissions or any late inclusions of authors. We also regret no changes to titles, abstracts, or the order of authors can be allowed either.

Before the submission deadline is expired, you can delete a proposal you have made and resubmit it in a changed form if you so choose. It will be treated as a new submission, which means – if applicable – the co-authors have to confirm their involvement again.

Track and Session Format

When submitting a proposal please indicate the forum that you think is the best fit for your work, but please understand that the review committee may change the original presentation category at its discretion.

Blind Review Process

  • To preserve anonymity, author names should NOT be identified in header/footer or in the body of the paper. Authors should be referred to in the text or notes in the third person only.
  • Review Committee: All proposals will be reviewed by at least two (2) reviewers.
  • Reviewers will be invited to supply review comments to authors, there is no guarantee, however, that they will do so in every case.

Proposal for Panel Sessions

We also welcome proposals for panel sessions during the conference. These proposals will not go through the blind review process. They will count towards the limit of two proposals per author.

Notification of Review Status

Authors will be notified of the Program Review Committee’s decision in mid-August.

Availability to Present

Authors who submit a proposal(s) and whose proposal is accepted by the review committee, will be expected to present at any time between the start and the end of the conference.
