Melbourne Conference:

Anthony Claridge (Global Strategy): Anthony recently returned to Australia from Germany where he was the Chief Operating Officer of ResMed Healthcare. A large part of the brief running the global supply chain of ResMed involved leveraging new technologies to simultaneously improve quality and reliability while keeping costs in check. Prior to that posting, Anthony was Senior Vice President Global Supplier Operations, ResMed Sydney where he was responsible for global manufacturing and supply chain across Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, China as well as European and US distribution to patients and partners.

Before moving into operations and general management, Anthony was responsible for ResMed IT in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to his time at ResMed Anthony spent 20 years traveling through the US, Germany, France and the United Kingdom working in the Scientific and Life Science space as a technology and business process leader.

Dr John Toohey (Psychology of Strategy): John is Principal and Co-founder of AdjunctFinder.com an international, on-line recruitment service for business schools and is a Visiting Professor at Macquarie University, School of Marketing and Management. He was formally Inaugural Head of the Graduate School of Business & Law at RMIT University and Professor of Business Psychology. He previously held senior positions in industry mainly in risk management and re-insurance and in the public sector in health, community services and industry policy.  John holds a Doctorate in organisational behaviour from Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM). Since the mid-90s he has worked across the Asia Pacific region in MBA education, business consulting and executive development programs in Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

Dr Joseph Voros (Strategic Foresight): Joseph began his career as a physicist. He holds a PhD in theoretical physics, during which he worked on mathematical extensions to the General Theory of Relativity – followed by several years in Internet-related companies, including a stint at Netscape Communications Corporation, before becoming a professional futurist and strategic foresight analyst. He is a Senior Lecturer, Strategy & Strategic Foresight at Swinburne University, Australia.

Dr Paul Hunter (Disruptive Strategy and Co Chair): Paul is Chief Executive of smiknowledge an executive development, research and consulting organisation. Paul is a specialist in the design, development and delivery of executive education and consulting programs in the fields of strategy and leadership. He was responsible for the development, design and now delivery of smiknowledge’s Certified Strategy Practitioner (CSP) accreditation program. Paul has conducted numerous strategically focused consulting projects throughout his career and given presentations at numerous conferences and seminars on this topic. Prior to establishing smiknowledge Paul held various roles in industry and consulting firms including that of Partner of the global management consulting firm PwC.

Dr Stuart Orr (International Strategy and Co Chair): Professor in Strategic Management at Deakin University, School of Business. He has published over 100 articles and a number of books on strategic and international management. Stuart is an Honorary Professor of the Open University of Hong Kong and a Fellow of the Australian Finance and Treasury Association, Chifley Business School and the World Business Institute. Has held board positions in NGOs and major international research associations, such as the Decision Sciences Institute, as well as visiting positions at the universities such as Cambridge. Stuart is an experienced consultant, manager and owns a commercial olive grove.

London Conference:

Dr Richard Whittington (Open Strategy): Richard is Millman Fellow in Management Studies at New College and Professor of Strategic Management at the Said Business School, University of Oxford. He has held full or visiting positions at Imperial College London, Warwick University, Harvard Business School, HEC Paris and the University of Toulouse. He has held full-time or visiting positions at Harvard Business School, HEC Paris, Imperial College and the Universities of Toulouse and Warwick. Richard has directed the Full-time MBA at Oxford and the Part-time MBA at Warwick. He is adviser to the Institute of Directors on Director Development. In addition to his university commitments he has worked in consulting or executive teaching roles with a large range of organizations, including BAE Systems, Grant Thornton, KPMG, McKinsey & Co., Nestlé, Saatchi & Saatchi and Unilever.

Dr Sotirios Paroutis (Role of Chief Strategy Officer): Sotirios is Professor of Strategic Management & Head of Strategy and International Business Group at Warwick Business School (WBS). He is recipient of multiple annual WBS Outstanding MBA and Masters Teacher Awards and has been involved in training for a number of organizations including IBM, E.On, UBS, CapGemini and Transport for London. Previously he worked as Junior Associate at McKinsey & Company (London), Financial Analyst at Procter & Gamble (Athens) and Credit Analyst at Eurobank EFG Bank (Athens). Sotirios provides consulting and executive support for strategy processes in large firms in the UK and globally. He current works on a number of research projects on: discourse, tools and cognition, chief strategy officers (CSOs)/strategy directors, workshops and strategy maps, CEO language and political capabilities/chief external officers.

Dr Colin Turner (Global Networks Co Chair): Colin is Associate Professor in Strategic Management at Heriot-Watt University. Colin’s professional work focuses on the delivery of international aspects of business management as well as International Strategy and International Marketing. When focusing on research, Colin addresses a broad set of themes and issues generated by the emergence of Global Infrastructure Networks. Whilst his work in this field has oriented towards issues related to corporate and business strategy, the subject matter often involves a multi-disciplinary approach that addresses many aspects of business management that embrace topics of marketing through to policy formation.
